Are you eligible to buy?
To buy Student Express, you must be involved in full-time educational or research activities.
- Non-United States citizens may travel to the United States with a J-1, H-3, F-1, M-1, Q-1, or similar visa.
- United States citizens may travel anywhere outside the United States with a valid passport.
Medical Evacuation and Repatriation
Annual coverage designed for J Visa and other visa holders.
Make sure you have proper coverage for your visa.
If you are studying in the USA on a J visa, you are required to have a minimum of $50,000 emergency medical evacuation coverage and a minimum of $25,000 for repatriation of remains. Medical Evacuation and Repatriation is an annual plan that provides this protection.
Who can buy the Medical Evacuation and Repatriation plan?
Any non-U.S. citizen and non-U.S. resident who is traveling to the USA and participating in full-time educational activities can buy this plan. You are not required to have a visa.
What if I already have a medical insurance plan?
Some schools may require you to buy the university approved health insurance plan. However, these plans often do not provide evacuation and repatriation coverage.
What is medical evacuation and repatriation coverage?
It covers the expenses and associated services for your emergency medical evacuation or repatriation back to your home country.

Student Health AdvantageSM
Individual or groups of five or more members – Long-term coverage available from one month up to five years for educational programs.
Student Health Advantage is designed to meet the needs of international students, scholars, and faculty, their families, and groups of five or more involved in long-term educational programs. Coverage may be purchased for spouses and unmarried dependent children traveling with the student/participant on individual coverage. Families are not eligible for Group coverage. In addition to meeting the requirements of the J1 Visa, this plan includes benefits for maternity, mental health and organized sports. After a period of 12 months, pre-existing conditions will be covered as well.
